“Good Enough for the Goyim” : Last Chance to Spin That Wheel (presented by Cobalt 60, “breathe better today”)
Lol! Spin that wheel one more time! After all, the baseball season is close to winding down. Now is the time to make major moves and live with them! If your still behind, then you don’t have anything to lose anyway. So cut the guy that gets you just enough to stay on your roster or in your lineup every week! At this particular time this year, there are plenty of pick-ups that will help you make that last fat chance run at the title. Generally, teams at the top are going to already have good teams, and they likely see a gamble on a player as not worth it. They have more to lose. Although heck, Im tied for second in one 12 team league, and I’m still going to throw the ball at the pins here (I’m probably in the minority). Pay very close attention to top prospects being called up! Will they be in the rotation, bullpen, playing everyday? These are all things to watch for and see because there will be at least 10 minor leaguers called up that will post solid numbers. In addition, think about players coming back from injury. I will cover some of these below.
Justin Duchsherer - Look for him to come back and be lights out! Heck, he’s been out all year practically speaking. I don’t anticipate him having any letdown. Many of us just wish it was sooner, but here’s your chance!
Edison Volquez SP CIN - Wow, another bust so far! Even before the injury he wasn’t exactly fooling many hitters! However, he’s not as bad as before the injury either. I expect he could really help your team as soon as he gets back.
Jose Reyes SS NYM- It’s really hard to tell how he’ll come back and play. The Mets are playing better now, and he could up that even more. Although they say he won’t be playing at 100%, I think I’d rather roll with that then a bust pick by me of MI Alexi Casilla.
Jay Bruce OF CIN - He might not get back at all. Could return for September. If he does, then roster him because he is well worth it.
Shaun Marcum SP TOR - Pretty darn good last year right, or was that the year before? Well, whenever he was injured; before that! He has all the tools, and the only question is…will he be able to bring it right away? Coming back pretty quick here.
Carlos Guillen OF DET - This has ended up being a bit strange a? It sounded like he would be out for the year, then he had some setbacks in rehab. As long as the injury does not reoccur, then it’s safe to roster him. He will post solid numbers the rest of the way.
Troy Glaus 3B STL - I have no idea if he’ll be able to play consistently in the field…seems unlikely to in fact. If he gets traded to the AL though, watch out! Then, he could be upgraded to a free throw or slam dunk. Still worth an add!
Tim Hudson SP ATL - He’s been out all year, and there may be more concern about when he’ll return, and then he could be rusty anyway. However, I’d roster him over Joe Saunders.
Carlos Delgado 1B NYM - Hip injuries are no joke. Could come back and make some noise! But….when is a big question? Plus, the injury could still be aggravating too. I’d wait to see if he’s playing everyday first.
